2020-11-30 Dave Coppock President's Notes December 2020

As the Yellowstone Rimrunners progress into their 40th year as an organization, I’m happy to be taking over the position of club president. We owe a great deal of thanks to out-going president, Christina Gomer, who led us through a challenging 2020. The club had to adapt to the COVID-19 pandemic in ways we never could imagine;  social distancing, masks and holding virtual running events. We don’t see much changing in the near future, but with a vaccine on the horizon, we may see some events creeping back in the latter half of 2021. We’re still maintaining our club staples; our Wednesday night and Saturday morning runs, while continuing to take CDC-recommended precautions.

A lot of credit goes to the Board which gets our newsletter out, emails sent, finances kept and events organized. The Club was still able to hold several virtual and in-person events and gatherings over the past year including the Froze Noze Biathlon, Shamrock Run, Three for Free runs (two of which we were able to hold in-person), Run Turkey, Run! and the trail cleanup day. All in all, not a bad year considering the challenges we all faced. Coming up, Shelly Phelps has set out some courses for the Christmas Lights runs for our Wednesday nights throughout the month of December, so we hope you can come out and join us for those winter night runs!

Keep wearing those masks and practice social distancing as much as you can.
Here’s hoping for a better 2021!
